          Farmers Market Listings

Farmers' markets, also known as greenmarkets, are generally open-air markets where farmers can sell their produce directly to consumers. Many people prefer to buy their produce from a farmer's market, because these foods are generally very fresh. Many feel that since this food is sold immediately, farmer's can pick and sell food at its prime, whereas in a grocery store it is often stored awhile before sold. In addition, many people like to support local growers, and a farmer's market allows them to give money to the farmer without going through a grocery store middleman.

It's also believed that Farmer's markets help to keep farmers in business. When farmers sell their produce wholesale to grocers, they make almost no profit. A farmers' market gives a farmer much higher profit potential. Farmers' markets are also seen as a way to help maintain social ties by linking urban and rural populations, and providing a place for people to meet.

Farmers' markets are common in many countries, and are becoming increasingly popular with the recent health food and organic food trend. More and more farmers' markets are appearing all over the world, and ones that have been around for years are starting to see more business.
